Today we will look at the 10 top tips for 3D Printing these tips are a must for any newbies out there...
We will cover the ten most common mistakes beginners make in 3D printing do not worry, most are common sense and easily resolved.
TIP 1 - Prints not coming out completed
This is a very common problem, and it usually happens because you have an overhang so the printer fails in this area (use Chitubox to find areas marked in red) often tilting the model for a better angel will help you iron out this problem.
TIP 2 - Prints Sticking to the FEP
Check your FEP is not too tight or loose by evenly tightening or reducing the tightness via the screws. When tapped there should be a nice drum sound tap the FEP all the way around and make sure the sound is even, too tinny is too tight and too low or drummy indicates it's too loose!
TIP 3 - White covering my Print
This commonly happens because your model has been UV cured before it has been washed thoroughly, use a brush or soft toothbrush, but make sure it's not the one you use for your teeth!
TIP 4 - Lines or misaligns in my prints
Make sure your build plate is tight and leveled to the VAT, check once, and check again.
If it persists make sure the z-Axis rod is straight and well oiled.
TIP 5 - Noxious smell from the resin
If your sensitive to the smell of resin make sure you have the printer in a well-ventilated room or even another room. You can also get plant-based resins with low odour.
TIP 6 - Grinding noise from my printer
If you hear the printer grind STOP the print immediately and make sure the Z-Axis rod is well oiled, never operate the printer if you hear any unusual sounds.
Best practice: always clean the rods from time to time.
TIP 7 - Not sure what exposure time to have on my prints
For exposure times there is a google sheet the community has created with actual user data use this as a starting point many factors can affect times such as resin type and room temperature - Resin Sheet Guide Click Here
TIP 8 - Choose the right slicer
With my Photon S I never use the Anycubic Slicer I find Chitubox a lot better - Here it is
TIP 9 - Cannot remove the print from the build plate
Try to avoid a big base as this leads to a bigger contact area, there are several things you can do one is to angle the print, or raise the print and use supports, you could also put a little bevel in the base so you can easily slide a palette knife under it and wiggle it until contact is broken.
Avoid damaging the build plate with sharp or blunt tools!
TIP 10 - I want to create my own models, where do I go and what do I use?
